The Garfield Post

Questions and answers

What is The Garfield Post?

A milestones board for Garfield Heights. Residents and people with Garfield Heights roots post the good news about their own people: birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, engagements, weddings, graduations, retirements, military homecomings, achievements, thank-yous and remembrances.

Is it a news site?

No. Nothing here is reported. Every post is written by the person who posts it, about their own family or friends. There are no articles, events, obituaries or notices.

How much does it cost?

A kudos note is free. A milestone post is $9, a remembrance $15, a Grad Salute card $12 and a family holiday greeting $9. A 7-day Spotlight is $10 more. Every payment is a one-time PayPal payment: no subscription and no auto-renewal.

How long does a post stay up?

Paid posts stay up for 12 months. Free kudos notes stay up for 30 days.

Can I add a photo?

Not yet. Every card uses the site's own artwork, so there are no photos of children, no copyright problems and nothing to moderate by hand.

How are names shown?

First name and last initial ("Maria K.") by default. You can show an adult's full surname by ticking the box. Anyone under 18 is always shown with a first name and last initial.

What is never shown?

Addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, exact birth dates or years of birth of living people, and where anyone will be. Posts that include them are sent back to be fixed.

What do I get?

A page for the post, a share image sized for Facebook and other sites, and a printable 5x7 card to print at home or at a print shop.

What if a post is about me and I want it down?

Every post has a "This is about me: remove it" link. Using it takes the post down at once.

Why does a remembrance appear a day later?

Remembrances appear 24 hours after payment, and one report takes a remembrance down for review. This stops prank posts about people who have not died.

What is the yearly reminder?

If you give the month and day of the passing and tick the box, we email you once a year, a few weeks before the anniversary, in case you would like to post a new remembrance. One click stops it.

What is a Spotlight?

A Spotlight puts a live post at the top of the home page and its category for 7 days. Only 3 run at a time; if all 3 are in use, yours starts as soon as one ends, and you see the expected start before you pay.

When are the Grad Salute and Holiday Greetings walls open?

Grad Salute is open April 1 to July 31. Holiday Greetings is open November 1 to December 31. Cards stay up for 12 months.

Can a business take part?

Yes, in two clearly labelled ways: one sponsor panel per milestone category ($99 for 12 months) or per seasonal wall ($149 a season), and business holiday greetings ($39). The sponsor page shows each page's real number of visitors over the last 30 days, including zero.

Can I get a refund?

Sales are final. If a post is taken down because of a removal request or reports, write to weldon@weldonpc.com.

Who runs The Garfield Post?

WeldonPC, a Garfield Heights computer business (5829 Turney Rd). The site is independent: it is not connected with the city, any school or any newspaper.
